2019-20 Europa League: Group Stage – Rangers vs Young Boys

It’s all or nothing for Rangers as they welcome Young Boys to Ibrox in a blockbuster Group G clash to decide who qualifies for the Knockout Stages.

Rangers will qualify with at least a draw but Young Boys realistically needs to win to guarantee a knockout spot, although they could also qualify with a draw if Feyenoord beats Porto in the other game.

Filip Helander and Steven Davis are ruled out for Rangers with foot injuries whilst winger, Jordan Jones is still absent with a long-term knee injury.

There are no Young Boys team news available at time of writing.

Stat Attack

  • Rangers are unbeaten in two of three previous meetings with Young Boys (W1, D1, L1).
  • Young Boys haven’t won in six previous away clashes against British opposition (D1, L5).
  • Alfredo Morelos has scored five goals in Rangers last four European games.

Prediction

Rangers should use Sunday’s Scottish League Cup Final defeat to inspire them here because this is probably their best chance in years to qualify for the knockout stages of a major competition.

Young Boys however will make things tough but the Gers has scored 15 home goals and conceded just once this season in European competition, which is a huge positive and I can’t see Rangers letting that momentum slip at a moment like this.

Prediction: Rangers 2-0 Young Boys

Result: Rangers 1-1 Young Boys
