Haas Release Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen at End of 2020 Season

Haas have announced that Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen are to both depart the team at end of the 2020 season.

Grosjean has been with Haas since the constructor entered Formula One in 2016, scoring the team’s maiden points on their debut in Australia with a sixth-placed finish whilst Magnussen joined the team a year later from Renault.

Speaking on the decision to part company with both drivers, Team Principal, Guenther Steiner said; ” I want to extend my thanks to both Romain (Grosjean) and Kevin (Magnussen) for their hard work and commitment to Haas F1 Team over the past few seasons,”

On Grosjean’s tenure, Steiner praised the Frenchman for his effort, saying; “Romain was a fundamental part of our establishment as we sought to get a driver onboard with both speed and experience. His results in early 2016 were a just reward, not only for his own talent, but also for the sheer amount of effort the team had put in to be on the grid that season.”

Steiner then admitted that there had been “a lot of good memories together…” with Grosjean and Magnussen with 2018 a particular highlight when the team finished fifth overall with both drivers having “played a significant part in that success.”

Magnussen tweeted a statement on his departure on the team, in which he said that he has grown in experience and his time at Haas is something which he will “look back at a great journey.”

Grosjean meanwhile also took to Twitter posting a statement in which he admitted that Haas has helped him in having “…improved to be a better driver as well as a better man.”

Haas will announce details of their new driver lineup in due course with Sergio Perez, Robert Shwartzman and Nikita Mazepin amongst those in contention to fill two vacant seats.
