Allan Saint-Maximin has signed a new six year contract with Newcastle United, keeping the winger at St James’ Park until 2026.

Saint-Maximin joined Newcastle from Nice in August 2019 and has gone on to score five goals in 34 appearances for the Magpies across all competitions.

Saint-Maximin’s finest moment for the Toon Army so far came in February’s FA Cup Fourth Round Replay when he fired in an extra-time away winner over Oxford United to clinch a 3-2 victory en route to an eventual Quarter-Final exit against Manchester City last season.

Speaking on his decision to extend his contract, Saint Maximin said; “I’ve played for a lot of clubs – Monaco, Nice, in Germany, but Newcastle, I feel like it’s my home.

“The supporters give me a lot of love, the coach too, and my partners on the pitch.”

Saint-Maximin in particularly paid tribute to Newcastle fans, saying; “Every club I’d been before, the fans loved me – but not like the Newcastle fans. That’s really important, because for me, you have the football and everything, but you have the human and they give me something different. So if I can give back to the supporters and to the club with a new deal, I’m really happy.”

Magpies Manager, Steve Bruce who also took charge last season and made Saint-Maximin his second first-team signing is “absolutely delighted” with the 23 year-old’s decision to commit his future to St James’ Park until 2026, saying; “We are delighted to be keeping him – and he’s delighted to be staying.”

Bruce also iterated that having adapted to “what life in the Premier League is like…”, this is an opportunity for Saint-Maximin to push on in his development with the ex Hull boss believing that the Frenchman “… can go as far as he wants to go because he’s got the talent to do it.”
