Stephen Kenny Adds Derrick Williams and Jack Byrne to 25-Man Republic of Ireland Squad

Derrick Williams (pictured) has been recalled to Republic of Ireland senior squad.

Republic of Ireland manager, Stephen Kenny has added Derrick Williams and Jack Byrne to his 25-man squad to face Slovakia, Wales and Finland next month. 

Williams and Byrne have both received their first international call-ups since November 2019 after impressing for Blackburn and Shamrock Rovers in defence and midfield respectively.

Caoimhin Kelleher replaces Kieran O’Hara in goalkeeper selection whilst Williams replaces Dara O’Shea in defensive selection but Byrne is a new addition to a retained midfield selection, with James McCarthy and Conor Hourihane amongst those to retain their places in the squad.

Ireland will visit Slovakia in Bratislava for their Euro 2020 qualifying play-off on 8 October 2020 before hosting Wales in Dublin three days later in their Nations League clash, prior to a trip to Finland in the same competition on 14 October.

Troy Parrott misses out up front through injury which saw him withdraw from last month’s squad after the match against Bulgaria and his replacement, Sean Maguire has also been omitted as David McGoldrick returns to the lineup after recovering from injury.

Here is the full 25-man Republic of Ireland squad for October’s Euro 2020 qualifying play-off against Slovakia before facing Wales then Finland in UEFA Nations League Group B4 games.
