2020 Hungarian Grand Prix Preview

As Formula One departs the Styrian mountains of Austria for the Hungaroring of Hungary, here is a preview ahead of the 2020 Hungarian Grand Prix weekend.

Valtteri Bottas comes here leading the drivers’ championship ahead of Mercedes’ teammate, Lewis Hamilton who is going for not a eighth win around this track but also the record of being the first driver to win three consecutive races around Hungaroring.

Red Bull and McLaren however will be hoping to spoil Mercedes’ party, whilst Racing Point face tough questions surrounding the legality of their car as they look for their first podium since Azerbaijan in 2018 under their former name of Force India.

Rain however is forecast to be around this weekend so here is everything that you need to know ahead of the 2020 Hungarian Grand Prix.

Five Key Pointers

  • With Hungaroring not being a power circuit, we should expect to see Red Bull be more competitive alongside Mercedes than they were in Hungary.
  • As questions linger over Racing Point’s car, this race could be telling in whether their pace is genuine across all circuits on a grand prix weekend with rain forecast.
  • Sector Two should suit Ferrari given their pace in low and medium corners compared to straights so far this season.
  • Finding a clean lap will be key in Qualifying given the high potential for laps to be ruined by single mistakes elsewhere on the track.
  • After managing strong performances around Hungaroring in poor cars of recent seasons, McLaren should aim for top five with the strong pace of this season’s car.
