2019-20 Sky Bet Championship: Week 37 – Sunday

Derby County welcome Blackburn Rovers to Pride Park in a crucial Sky Bet Championship clash, as both teams look to continue their bids for a Play-Off place.

A win for Derby will lift them to 12th position whilst Blackburn can climb to sixth with victory.

Tom Lawrence is a doubt for Derby after being subbed at half-time during Thursday’s FA Cup exit against Manchester United, having suffered a knock to his calf.

Andre Wisdom (illness) is expected to be in contention after missing that game through illness.

Duane Holmes (ankle), Tom Huddlestone (hamstring), Krystian Bielik (knee) and Ikechi Anya (calf) are still ruled out.

Blackburn are once again without Derrick Williams and Darragh Lenihan, as Williams continues to recover from a calf injury and Lenihan serves the last of a two match ban.

Bradley Dack, Lewis Holtby (both knee) and Corry Evans (head) remain long-term absentees.

Form

Derby have won just one of their last five league matches (W1, D2, L2), but have kept just two clean sheets in their last eight home outings across all competitions.

Blackburn enter this match without a defeat in their last five (W2, D3), whilst scoring first in four of their last five games with exception of a goalless home draw against Stoke.

Stat Attack

  • Derby have taken a single point from their last five league meetings against Blackburn (D1, L4).
  • Rovers have kept clean sheets in each of their last four matches against Derby.
  • Blackburn have won just one of their last five trips to Pride Park (W1, D2, L2).

Prediction

Derby showed signs of their potential at times on Thursday but Man Utd were simply too good, so will be keen to kick on with a strong attacking performance here in a game in which the first half could be key.

Blackburn however know how to grind out points even when not at their best, which makes me think that we are in a good battle here with a draw a good bet.

Prediction: Derby County 1-1 Blackburn Rovers

Result: Derby County 3-0 Blackburn Rovers
