2019-20 Sky Bet Championship: Week 34 – Saturday

Bristol City welcome West Bromwich Albion to Ashton Gate in Saturday’s big Sky Bet Championship match.

A win plus results elsewhere swinging in their favour could lift Bristol City as high as fourth, whilst West Brom could extend their lead over Leeds to seven points with victory if the Whites lose at home to Reading.

Bristol City could be without several regulars after illness spread around the team in midweek, with just 12 players available to train on Tuesday.

Tomas Kalas is nearing a return from a hamstring injury.

West Brom could have Kieran Gibbs and Chris Brunt available as the pair near full fitness.

Gareth Barry (calf) and Grady Diangana (hamstring) are both ruled out.

Form

Bristol City enter this match with five wins from their last seven league matches (W5, L2), although the Robins have kept just two clean sheets in their last five home games.

West Brom come into this game unbeaten in their last four (W3, D1) with two goals in each of their four games this month, but have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven away trips.

Stat Attack

  • Bristol City have taken just seven points from seven Championship meetings with West Brom (W2, D1, L4).
  • West Brom are winless in three previous Championship trips to Ashton Gate (D1, L2).
  • The Baggies have never recorded a league double over Bristol City.

Prediction

After a shaky January, West Brom seem to be on the right track in terms of grinding out results which is something that Bristol City will need to get on top of if they’re to dictate this match.

I however don’t see that happening if the bug that is going around Ashton Gate is still present on Saturday, but the Robins should still give West Brom a good test even if it ends in defeat.

Prediction: Bristol City 1-2 WBA

Result: Bristol City 0-3 WBA
