Phil Neville Announces Lionesses Squad for 2020 SheBelieves Cup

Phil Neville has announced his 23 Lionesses squad for next month’s SheBelieves Cup, where England look to defend their title.

West Ham’s Grace Fisk has received her first senior call-up as Neville rings the changes ahead of this summer’s Summer Olympics.

Fisk captained the Lionesses U20s team who won bronze at the 2018 U20 World Cup, having lost to Japan in the semi-final before beating France on penalties in the third-place play-off after a 1-1 draw.

Mary Earps has dropped out of the squad in favour of Everton’s Sandy Maclver who returns after being omitted from the squad for November’s friendlies against Germany and Czech Republic.

Gemma Bonner has been left out of the defensive selection as Fisk comes in as her replacement, whilst Steph Houghton and Alex Greenwood are also back in after being rested in the friendly win against Czech Republic.

Up front, Beth Mead is absent through injury so Neville has handed Chloe Kelly a call-up alongside the returning Toni Duggan and Ellen White, after the trio were left out of the squad for the Lionesses’ last match.

Neville’s only major omission is forward, Jodie Taylor who misses out as part of a change in direction, which is aimed at preparing for a tilt at the 2021 Women’s European Championship which will be held in England.

Birmingham City goalkeeper, Hannah Hampton has been called up as a training player along with North Carolina Courage striker – Alessia Russo.
