2019-20 Sky Bet Championship: Week 30 Roundup

West Bromwich Albion returned to top spot after another crazy weekend throughout the Sky Bet Championship. 

Pablo Hernandez deflected Joe Williams’ corner into his own net to gift third-bottom Wigan a narrow win over Leeds, meaning that West Brom moved back top after comfortably beating rock-bottom Luton.

Donervon Daniels put his former club ahead when he bundled Callum Robinson’s cross into his own net, before Semi Ajayi’s second-half header secured victory.

Fulham climbed to third after edging Huddersfield in a first-half five goal thriller, having been three goals to the good before clinging on after Emile Smith-Rowe and Steve Mounie reduced the Terriers’ deficit.

Nottingham Forest consequently slipped to fourth after Birmingham came from behind through Scott Hogan and Kristian Pedersen to cancel out Tiago Silva’s opener.

Said Benrahma netted a hat-trick as Brentford thrashed Hull 5-1 in a game in which the Tigers were adjusting to life without Kamil Grosicki and Jarrod Bowen, who had both departed on Deadline Day for West Brom and West Ham respectively.

Bristol City round out the top six after Famara Diedhiou’s header proved enough to defeat QPR.

Elsewhere, Wayne Rooney curled in a screamer as Derby ran riot in a 4-0 home win over Stoke, moving the Rams up to 13th.

Preston and Swansea continue to keep pace with the Play-Off contenders after Scott Sinclair’s opener for the Lilywhites was cancelled out by Rhian Brewster in a 1-1 draw at Deepdale.

Charlton moved four points clear of the relegation zone after first-half goals from Lyle Taylor and Andre Green were enough to edge second-bottom Barnsley, who reduced their deficit with a second-half strike from Cauley Woodrow.

Cardiff and Middlesbrough both came from behind to snatch 1-1 draws at home against Reading and Blackburn respectively.

Finally, Sheffield Wednesday were held to a goalless home draw by Millwall.
