West Bromwich visit Preston North End at Deepdale looking to return to the Championship summit in this week’s Monday Night Football.
Preston can go fourth with a win whilst only a win would return West Brom back above Leeds into top spot.
Alex Neil could recall several defenders for Preston after a injury crisis left the Lilywhites depleted in their midweek defeat at Hull.
Ben Davies (ankle), Andrew Hughes (knee), Tom Clarke (foot) and Alan Browne (hamstring) will all face late fitness tests.
Darnell Fisher is also doubtful with an undisclosed injury.
West Brom have a fully fit squad available for selection although Slaven Bilic will ring the changes, following Wednesday’s 4-1 home win over Bristol City.
Preston are winless in their last two matches, having won their previous three beforehand but are unbeaten in nine home games this season (W7, D2).
West Brom are unbeaten in their last eight games (W6, D2) and kept clean sheets in their three away trips during this run.
- Preston have lost their last three meetings with West Brom.
- West Brom have taken just four points from their last five league trips to Deepdale (W1, D1, L3).
- Both teams have scored in their last three league meetings.
Preston desperately need a win to revive their automatic promotion hopes but they’re facing a West Brom side who are currently hitting their stride, which makes for a cracker given the Lilywhites’ unbeaten home form.
I therefore fancy Preston to sit deep and try to get something on the counter but with a defensive crisis, I can’t see past a Baggies win unless several of Preston’s defenders are declared fit.
Prediction: Preston 0-2 WBA
