Championship strugglers, Barnsley welcome Brentford to Oakwell in a crucial Super Sunday clash for both teams.
A win will lift the Tykes out of the bottom three whilst Brentford will move up to 14th if they take victory
Bambo Diaby is in contention to feature for Barnsley if he passes a late fitness test, having recently returned to first-team training from an ankle injury.
Aapo Halme is also set to be available after shaking off an injury which forced him off during last weekend’s away defeat at Nottingham Forest.
Fullback, Dimitri Cavare remains sidelined alongside Ben Williams, who is serving the last of a three match suspension.
Brentford have no fresh injury concerns as Ethan Pinnock prepares to face his former club for the first time, since leaving the Tykes for West London this summer.
Mads Bech and Luka Racic are ruled out as they continue to regain match fitness after recent injuries.
Barnsley haven’t won since the opening weekend with two draws and five defeats since then in the Championship, although they have scored in three of their four home league games.
Brentford have taken just four points from their last five league games but have scored just once away from Griffin Park, which came from an Ollie Watkins’ winner in their first away trip at Middlesbrough.
- Barnsley are unbeaten in four Championship meetings with Brentford (W2, D2).
- The Tykes haven’t lost any of their last four home games against Brentford (W1, D3).
- Just Jack Walton and Dimitri Cavare remain from the last Barnsley teamsheet to face Brentford, who have five players still on their roster from their last meeting in April 2018.
Both teams are capable of better football than what we are currently seeing, in particularly from Brentford who seems to lack the ability to finish shots away from home.
I therefore can’t see much of a decent game here but Brentford have the stronger attack, so am going for a Bees win here.
Prediction: Barnsley 0-1 Brentford
Result: Barnsley 1-3 Brentford
