Racing Point has announced that Sergio Perez has signed a new three year deal, keeping him in Formula One until 2022.
The contract extension sees Perez continue to partner Lance Stroll as the team look to blend experience and youth, especially as the Mexican has been with the team since 204 under its old name of Force India.
Speaking about the decision to extend his stay with the Silverstone based constructor, Perez said; “I’ve been working together with this group of people for a long time now and they have become my second family.”
The Mexican has also praised the team for their progress in the past year, saying; “I have been impressed with the direction the team has taken over the last twelve months and that gives me confidence for the future.
“I believe the best times are still to come and I look forward to celebrating plenty of podiums in the years ahead.”
This announcement therefore makes Perez one of just a few drivers to confirm their participation beyond next season, alongside Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and the returning Esteban Ocon who joins Renault next season.
