2018-19 Sky Bet Championship: Week 45 – Saturday

Norwich City welcome Blackburn Rovers to Carrow Road for a blockbuster Sky Bet Championship clash, in which they could seal promotion if avoid defeat.

A point is all that Daniel Farke’s men need and depending on Sheffield United’s result, Norwich could well seal the title here as well.

Blackburn meanwhile are in a six way scrap for the last two spots in the top ten alongside teams like Swansea and Nottingham Forest.

Norwich have no fresh injury concerns apart from Tom Trybull who is out with an ankle injury, having battled through recent games with the issue.

Blackburn could welcome Darragh Lenihan back after illness but Richard Smallwood faces a late fitness test after a calf injury kept him out of Monday’s home win over Bolton.

Harrison Reed has returned to Southampton for treatment on an ankle injury whilst Ben Gladwin and Dominic Samuel are sidelined with knee injuries.

Form

Norwich are now unbeaten in their last 12 but have drawn each of their last four matches, with three of those finishing 2-2.

Blackburn are unbeaten in their last four, winning both away games by 2-1 results, having taken one point from their previous six away trips beforehand.

Stat Attack

  • Norwich are unbeaten in their last five against Blackburn in all competitions (W4, D1).
  • Norwich have drawn four of their last five home meetings with Blackburn, winning the other 3-1 in August 2014.
  • Victory here will see Blackburn finish a month unbeaten in the league for the third time this season, having achieved the feat in January and August.

Prediction

There’s nothing like clinching promotion at home but Norwich are in for a tough game against a strong Blackburn side, who when on it are a dangerous team to stop.

I am therefore going for another draw here because the Canaries seem to be doing just enough to get the points needed but this is the point that will send them flying up to the Premier League.

Prediction: Norwich City 2-2 Blackburn Rovers
