Swansea City will be hoping to produce a major cupset as they meet Manchester City at the Liberty Stadium in their FA Cup Quarter Final.
Swansea’s top scorer, Oli McBurnie is a doubt after missing their midweek defeat at West Brom through illness. The Scot however could make the bench if fit enough then come on as a sub.
Cameron Carter-Vickers is expected to be available if he shakes off a knock whilst Kyle Naughton is unlikely to feature as he battles an unclear groin/hamstring issue.
Joe Rodon (foot) and Leroy Fer (hamstring) are ruled out for the Swans but expected to be available in a fortnight’s time.
Manchester City will once again be without John Stones who is struggling to overcome a groin stain.
Fernandinho (groin), Kevin de Bruyne (hamstring), Vincent Kompany (muscle) and Benjamin Mendy (knee) are also sidelined until after the international break.
Claudio Bravo remains out for City with a ruptured Achilles Tendon.
- This is the first ever FA Cup meeting between these sides, with Manchester City winning their only other domestic cup meetings 2-1 here in League Cup in September 2016.
- Man City are yet not to win a FA Cup away meeting this century with a Welsh side, beating Cardiff last season then Newport in the last round.
- Swansea’s last two Quarter-Final wins came when they were in second tier and faced top flight opposition on both occasions.
Swansea are going to have to play an unbelievable game to even take this to extra-time, if Man City’s recent cup performances are anything to go by.
In all honesty, I just cannot see past a Citizens’ win here because the gulf in quality is too wide for Swansea to stand any chance.
Prediction: Swansea City 0-3 Manchester City
Result: Swansea City 2-3 Manchester City
