With 2019 having arrived in midweek, its time for the biggest Saturday of the Footballing calendar as majority of the FA Cup Third Round ties take place.
With 22 matches scheduled to take place, here is a guide to the biggest ties to watch out for throughout the day as teams look to join Tottenham Hotspur in the hat for Fourth Round draw.
Shrewsbury Town vs Stoke City (12:30pm)
This time last season, Shrewsbury held West Ham to a goalless draw so Stoke face a tough trip to New Meadow.
Both sides are in similar form but the Potters are fielding a strong team here which is crucial because the Shrews have avoided defeat in their last four home games at this stage.
Add in the fact that there hasn’t been a single draw at this ground between these two teams then I am expecting a tight game with Stoke just edging this given their impressive away form.
Prediction: Shrewsbury Town 0-1 Stoke City
Result: Shrewsbury Town 1-1 Stoke City
West Ham United vs Birmingham City (12:30pm)
With two teams in such excellent form, we have all the ingredients of a potential cupset at the London Stadium.
Between them, West Ham and Birmingham have collected just three defeats between them in the last month with a combined 26 goals too. That is some rich form they have going and with both sides set to field their best players, this could very well be a goalfest.
In end, I am going for a replay here as both teams have enough to cancel each other out no matter what the result and Samir Nasri could well spring a surprise given his quality under Manuel Pellegrini when both were at Manchester CIty.
Prediction: West Ham United 2-2 Birmingham City
Result: West Ham United 2-0 Birmingham City
Derby County vs Southampton (3pm)
A month ago, I like many others viewed this as an obvious cupset in the making but under Ralph Hasenhuttl, Southampton might just give Derby a game here.
One noticeable quality between both teams is that they like to attack high up the pitch although the Saints are vulnerable on counter attacks, which is something Derby need to be clinical with unlike Chelsea who blew numerous chances in midweek.
Ultimately though, I wouldn’t be surprised if Southampton edge this given their impressive away record in this competition with only one defeat in last ten away ties.
Prediction: Derby County 1-2 Southampton
Result: Derby County 2-2 Southampton
Everton vs Lincoln City (3pm)
Defeat here would be embarrassing for Everton who have been inconsistent lately, although it would just be a routine cupset for Lincoln City after their exploits in 2016-17 season.
My biggest concern with the Toffees is where that final touch will come from because the entire team lack that confidence. If throw in their recent record of crashing out at this stage in last two seasons to teams also beginning with L then its either going to be third time lucky or an absolute disaster.
Lincoln meanwhile are flying at top of League Two and will be looking to replicate their success of 2017 with a deep cup run plus league title.
Danny Cowley wisely rested key players in midweek which will benefit the Imps here against a poor Everton side, and ultimately prove to be the difference.
Prediction: Everton 1-2 Lincoln City
Result: Everton 2-1 Lincoln City
Bristol City vs Huddersfield (5:30pm)
With only 13 goals and a eight match losing streak, Huddersfield really need a win here otherwise their season is in big trouble.
Bristol City however are heading in the opposite direction with an eight match winning run and clean sheets in their last two plus 32 goals so far this season.
I am therefore expecting Huddersfield to go out there and try to at least get this tie back to the John Smith Stadium for a replay. They are however probably going to have to score which is a huge ask, especially seeing as the Robins won their last FA Cup meeting which came at this stage in 2001.
Bristol City however have found their best approach after a tricky start following the loss of key players in summer, so should do enough to create a cupset although a replay would be a decent outcome.
Prediction: Bristol City 2-1 Huddersfield Town
Result: Bristol City 1-0 Huddersfield Town
