Boxing Day saw plenty of goals and drama so its a quick turnaround as teams go again in another round of festive Premier League fixtures.
Liverpool meet Arsenal in the big match at Anfield whilst Tottenham and Leicester aim to continue their winning runs amongst other matches.
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Everton
With Everton, its tough to predict what sort of side we will get at minute after they went from a defensive shambles against Tottenham to thrashing Burnley 5-1 just days later in past week.
Brighton meanwhile grinded out a brilliant point against a tricky Arsenal team in midweek, making it seven unbeaten from nine home league games so far this season.
One downside for the Seagulls though is that Matthew Ryan is away on international duty, leaving them with either David Button or Jason Steele in goal. Steele is however my biggest concern if he starts because if he hasn’t shaken off his Sunderland woes from last season, expect a comfortable Everton win.
I however feel that this might be a tight game with Everton just edging it.
Prediction: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-2 Everton
Jake predicts: Brighton & Hove Albion 2-0 Everton
Result: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 Everton
Fulham vs Huddersfield TownEmbed from Getty Images
This is an absolute six pointer between the bottom two teams.
Attack wise, Fulham are stronger with Aleksandar Mitrovic doing a decent job when given chances. Defensively, its nip and tuck because the Cottagers have conceded 19 at home whilst Huddersfield have leaked 20 on their travels.
This game is therefore probably going to come down to whoever has the better clinical finishing on the day.
On that note, I am going for a home win but will be a tight game.
Prediction: Fulham 2-1 Huddersfield Town
Jake predicts: Fulham 1-2 Huddersfield Town
Result: Fulham 1-0 Huddersfield Town
Leicester City vs Cardiff City
After two fantastic victories against Chelsea then Manchester City, anything less than a win here will be disappointing for Leicester.
Being underdogs in those two games clearly benefitted the Foxes who showed no fear when on the counter attack. This time around, they will be favourites so will be interesting to see what approach Claude Puel takes in terms of tactics.
Cardiff meanwhile were under the kosh at Crystal Palace in midweek so need to show more attacking instinct here.
For that reason, if its’ more of same from Leicester then expect a more comfortable win than in past week.
Prediction: Leicester City 2-0 Cardiff City
Jake predicts: Leicester City 2-0 Cardiff City
Result: Leicester City 0-1 Cardiff City
Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolverhampton WanderersEmbed from Getty Images
Given Spurs’ current form, a win here will be only serve to make Liverpool vs Arsenal even more enormous, as should the Reds lose then title race will be down to three points.
With the whole team currently at top of their game with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min notable stand-outs, its hard to see how they could possibly lose here.
Wolves however are a solid pressing side who Fulham did a decent job in keeping the measure of to earn a point in midweek.
This however is Spurs’ win given their momentum but the scoreline won’t be as classy as recent results.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Jake predicts: Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Result: Tottenham Hotspur 1-3 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Watford vs Newcastle United
After a brutal Boxing Day knockout from Liverpool, Newcastle really need to reset themselves with a win here.
Watford however were unlucky to lose to Chelsea and if continue to show their recent attacking form, this should be a comfortable three points.
I however feel that Newcastle might just spring a decent performance akin to their recent goalless draw against Fulham and try to nick a point.
In end though, the Hornets have that extra quality which should see them over the line here.
Prediction: Watford 2-1 Newcastle United
Jake predicts: Watford 1-0 Newcastle United
Result: Watford 1-1 Newcastle United
Liverpool vs Arsenal (5:30pm)Embed from Getty Images
This is a massive game for both clubs as Liverpool could either restore or extend their six point lead, whilst Arsenal aim to climb back into the top four after a sluggish run of results lately.
Liverpool were just sublime against Newcastle on Boxing Day whilst Arsenal lacked the sharpness needed to see off Brighton who got on top of them in second half.
That has to change for the Gunners who need to move more quickly and make sure their finishing is clinical. Fail to do so then Liverpool will absolutely punish them with fast paced counter attacks and variety of passes.
Realistically, I just don’t see that happening against a side who haven’t lost at home since April 2017 in the league and have only dropped just one point at Anfield this season from nine outings.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Arsenal
Jake predicts: Liverpool 2-0 Arsenal
Result: Liverpool 5-1 Arsenal
