Last night saw the FA Cup First Round get underway with AFC Wimbledon beating Haringey Borough in a London derby.
Now 56 teams are in action on a hectic Saturday but who will find themselves on end of cupsets as we pick out the ties to watch out for?
Maidenhead United vs Portsmouth (12:30pm)
This is going to be a tough clash for Maidenhead because Portsmouth are flying atop of League One, whilst the hosts are in the National League relegation zone.
Throw in a three match losing streak then I can see just one result coming here, although the home fans will make it respectable.
Prediction: Maidenhead United 0-2 Portsmouth
Aldershot Town vs Bradford City
This tie has potential cupset written all over it because Bradford are struggling at foot of League One, and are winless in their last six.
Aldershot meanwhile are mid-table in National League but are unbeaten in their last four home games and have scored more goals than Bradford, despite a two division difference.
Given the Bantams’ cup speciality, Aldershot probably need to win here to avoid another replay which was what happened at this stage in 2015-16 season, and I can see them getting the job done.
Prediction: Aldershot 2-1 Bradford City
Bromley vs Peterborough United
Regardless of the two league gap, this should be a cracker because Bromley are last season’s losing FA Trophy finalists whilst Peterborough feature in League One promotion race.
If they can garner the spirit of that cup run and use it here for motivation, expect plenty of goals because these two sides have already netted a combined 67 goals between them this season.
Its difficult to see which side will win this but the Posh will be the better side in closing stages. I am therefore going to go for a thrilling draw.
Prediction: Bromley 2-2 Peterborough United
Metropolitan Police vs Newport County
Newport County will be looking to avoid a citizens’ arrest as they visit the Metropolitican Police at Imber Court.
Despite the huge gulf in quality, I can see a potential cupset here because Newport have taken just one win in last seven, drawing four and losing twice away.
Based on that form, I would say that the Met Police have to go out there and leave everything on the pitch if are to finally win a First Round Proper clash.
In end, fitness will be a key factor and I can see the away team eventually winning through.
Prediction: Metropolitan Police 1-2 Newport County
