Other highlights include Newcastle and Huddersfield’s away tests at Southampton and Watford respectively, whilst Bournemouth ailm to pile on the misery for Fulham as they aim to close in on the title fight.
Last weekend saw these two teams experience contrasting fortunes as Brighton finally got an away win whilst Wolves’ two month unbeaten run came to an end.
Brighton aren’t the best defensively but have done a better job of getting results at home, although will have to raise their game against a Wolves side who will be difficult to silence.
Last weekend perhaps was the first time that Wolves haven’t been at the races given how impressive Watford were throughout and able to get quick-fire first half goals. Whether that’s due to players only just adjusting after the international break or not, I can’t see them letting that performance drag into this game.
I therefore can see an away win but both teams should score.
Prediction: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Jake predicts: Brighton & Hove Albion 2-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Result: Brighton & Hove Albion 1-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Things need to drastically change for Fulham because they have already conceded 25 league goals, which is relegation form and last week’s battering by Cardiff won’t help matters.
Bournemouth meanwhile are just constantly improving on last season, having matched Liverpool and Tottenham for number of goals produced at 16 apiece.
That stat highlights just how much progression we have seen in past year and to be honest, I can see them handing The Cottagers a drubbing here.
Prediction: Fulham 0-4 Bournemouth
Jake predicts: Fulham 1-2 Bournemouth
Result: Fulham 0-3 Bournemouth
This is going to be a brutal afternoon for Cardiff because this Liverpool side will literally rip them apart if the Reds pick up where they finished their Champions League match.
One positive though for the Bluebirds is the fact that they managed a first win of season last time out. Although it is unlikely to yield any points, if they can use that newfound confidence plus play like they did against Spurs then the damage will be minimal.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-0 Cardiff City
Jake predicts: Liverpool 2-0 Cardiff City
Result: Liverpool 4-1 Cardiff City
Its difficult to predict what we will get from this fixture because both teams have issues scoring, and have the joint second lowest goal total with six goals each so far.
Newcastle however have shown some signs of progress in recent games, especially from their first half at Manchester United just before the fortnight break.
I therefore feel that the Magpies might just nick this by a single goal.
Prediction: Southampton 0-1 Newcastle United
Jake predicts: Southampton 1-0 Newcastle United
Result: Southampton 0-0 Newcastle United
Watford will be favourites but we shouldn’t write Huddersfield’s chances off here because they might just get something.
Against Liverpool last weekend, the Terriers managed to carve out several chances but just lacked that final touch to claim a point. If they can just find that clinical edge here and maintain the quality from that performance then we could have a good match.
As much as a part of me feels that this could be a draw, Watford were just fabulous at Molineux last time out in their dominance of the game so have to go for a Hornets win here.
Prediction: Watford 2-1 Huddersfield Town
Jake predicts: Watford 2-0 Huddersfield Town
Result: Watford 3-0 Huddersfield Town
Both teams have struggled lately and lost their last two matches so this is a huge opportunity to get back on track.
Leicester were just simply outclassed by Arsenal whilst West Ham really gave Tottenham a game last weekend, so will be the more confident here in my opinion.
It is however the Foxes who have the better head to head record with one loss in last seven meetings but both teams have been inconsistent all season.
To be honest, I can see a draw here because this doesn’t scream a winner to me.
Prediction: Leicester City 0-0 West Ham United
Jake predicts: Leicester City 1-0 West Ham United
Result: Leicester City 1-1 West Ham United
