After a fortnight off, the Sky Bet Championship got resumed with a lively weekend in which top teams came unstuck whilst others made progress.

League leaders, Leeds United remain top after drawing 1-1 at Millwall but second placed Middlesbrough suffered a shock 1-0 defeat away to Norwich through Teemu Pukki’s 58th minute winner,  endangering their second place in the table.

Brentford and Bristol City maximised Boro’s defeat to full effect after they saw off Wigan and Sheffield United to move second and third respectively. The Blades were left sat fifth whilst Swansea rounded out the top six with a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest.

Down at the bottom, Reading begun the day propping up the table but goals from Sam Baldock, Tiago Ilori and Leandro Bacuna helped them move above Preston North End after a five goal thriller.

Ipswich therefore replaced the Royals at foot of the Championship following a 2-0 away defeat at Hull, as they look for their first win under Paul Hirst.

Elsewhere, Rotherham made it back to back home wins after a Ryan Manning penalty proved to be the difference against Derby, who had manager, Frank Lampard sent to the stands.

QPR continued their improved form after beating Bolton Wanderers 2-1 on a day when the Trotters paid tribute to former owner, Eddie Davis who had died early last week.

Sheffield Wednesday meanwhile produced a stunning comeback against Stoke City to cancel out Benik Afobe’s early double and secure a 2-2 draw, which sent the Owls ninth whilst Stoke currently sit just a point above the relegation zone.

Finally, Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa and Blackburn all picked up a point each after 1-1 draws.
