FIA have approved Racing Point Force India entry into Formula One following Racing Point UK Limited acquisition of Force India Formula One Team.
With FIA’s approval, Racing Point Force India will now make their debut at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix.
This announcement however comes at a cost with the team losing its 59 accumulated points from this season so far, under previous entry of ‘Sahara Force India’.
Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon will however keep their points in the drivers’ championship, where they sit 10th and 12th respectively in the standings.
Otmar Szafnauer will serve as Team Principal and CEO as Robert Fernley moves on to pastures new. Rest of senior management however remains unchanged.
The takeover was led by Lawrence Stroll who has vowed to ‘invest in new resources and bring fresh energy to empower the workforce to continue racing at the very highest level.’
A new team name will also be launched in time for next season but for rest of 2018, the team will race under Racing Point Force India in colours of pink, white and blue.
