Pierre Gasly will replace the departing Daniel Ricciardo at Red Bull Racing from 2019, partnering Max Verstappen.
The move has been described as a ‘dream come true’ by the Frenchman, whose ambition is to ‘win Grands Prix and complete for world championships.’
Since replacing Daniil Kvyat in Toro Rosso at 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix, Gasly has impressed with a fourth placed finish in Bahrain this year being his best result so far.
Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner is particularly excited by the decision because of Gasly’s ‘speed, skill and attitude..’ which is going to be key as the team join their junior outfit in running Honda power units from next season.
The decision however shouldn’t come as a surprise after Carlos Sainz was released to join McLaren last week.
In mean time, Formula One returns this weekend with the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps.
