Huddersfield Town host Arsenal at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday in a game which will see the curtain close on Arsene Wenger’s 22-year reign in charge of the Gunners.
The Terriers come into the final game of the season in party-mode having secured Premier League survival with a game to spare after picking up a point against Chelsea during the week. Successive, and impressive points against Manchester City and Chelsea ensure that the West Yorkshire club will continue their top-flight journey.
The day will see Arsene Wenger’s career celebrated as the Huddersfield players will give the Arsenal boss a guard of honour prior to kick-off, and the John Smith’s crowd will provide a minutes applause during the 22nd minute of the game.
Arsenal come into the game following a 3-1 away defeat at the hands of Leicester City, meaning they still have zero points on the road in 2018. Embarrassingly, this unwanted stat means the Gunners have a worse record than Chesterfield who were relegated from League Two.
The Huddersfield players have been deservedly partying during the week after securing survival, so we may see several changes from the team that started against Chelsea on Wednesday, as there’s no pressure on the Terriers to pick up a result.
The Arsenal players will be hoping to put an end to their disappointing away record and give Arsene Wenger the perfect send-off with an emphatic win. Personally, I can see the run ending, but not with a win. Huddersfield have the freedom of playing without relegation on their minds, so I think they will give the Gunners a game.
