Leicester welcome Southampton to the King Power Stadium for a Premier League clash.
Whilst Leicester’s hopes of seventh and possible Europa League football is running out, Southampton need a win here or they face the prospect of needing to win every remaining game in their run in.
Leicester will hand Kasper Schmeichel and Shinji Okazaki fitness tests, after both limped off with ankle injuries in Saturday’s defeat at Burnley.
Daniel Amartey could miss out for second match running as Wilfred Ndidi returns from suspension.
Southampton will have captain, Steve Davis back from an Achilles injury for this clash.
Mario Lemina (back & hamstring) and Sofiane Boufal (illness) will be out alongside Jack Stephens, who continues his three match suspension.
Leicester come here off the back of two consecutive league defeats, having won two after drawing two of their previous four (DDWWLL).
Jamie Vardy has scored in last five of Leicester’s games in all competitions.
Southampton have won just one of last eight games in all competitions, 2-0 against Wigan in FA Cup.
The Saints however have lost all four league games, conceding three in each of those games but have scored twice in each of last two matches after losing the previous 2 by a 3-0 result.
During those runs, both teams suffered defeats to Newcastle United.
- Leicester have lost just once in last five meetings (W2, D2, L1)
- Leicester have not won in four home matches (D3, L1)
- Jamie Vardy has set a new PL record by being on losing side eight times when he scored.
- Defeat here will see Southampton equal their top flight record for most consecutive losses.
Where can game be won or lost?
|Per Game Average||Leicester City (home)||Southampton (away)|
|Shots on Target||3.75||3.31|
|Goals per First Half %||45.5||46.7|
|Goals per Second Half %||54.5||53.3|
Defence definitely looks like it could well decide where this game is won or lost for either team.
Leicester have the edge in attack but everywhere else, both sides are definitely too evenly matched to say that one side will dominate.
That therefore means that defending and clinical finishing will certainly have a big say in outcome.
Its hard to pick out a winner so a draw seems likely but I think with relegation a distinct possibility, Southampton will just nick this one.
Prediction: Leicester City 0-1 Southampton
Jake predicts: Leicester City 2-0 Southampton
Result: Leicester City 0-0 Southampton
