This weekend’s FA Cup action means that the Premier League fixture list is decimated with just four matches taking place.
The relegation battle dominates the 3pm games with highlights including Huddersfield Town vs Crystal Palace and Bournemouth vs West Bromwich Albion.
BT Sport’s evening game sees Liverpool welcome Watford to Anfield, having played out a 3-3 thriller on the opening weekend.
Bournemouth vs WBA
Bournemouth come into this game off back of a 4-1 thumping by Tottenham last weekend, but know a win will move them into within four points of safety.
West Brom meanwhile need to start winning now if want to stand any chance of staying up.
Eddie Howe’s side are unbeaten in last three home games against the Baggies with two wins and a draw.
Alan Pardew meanwhile haven’t won in three previous league meetings against the Cherries.
Both teams have lost the most points from winning positions this season so this looks like it might be scrappy.
In the end, I fancy Bournemouth to take a comfortable victory and extend their scoring run to 12 games.
Prediction: Bournemouth 2-0 WBA
Jake predicts: Bournemouth 3-0 WBA
Result: Bournemouth 2-1 WBA
Huddersfield Town vs Crystal Palace
These teams have met twice already this season, with both winning one apiece.
Huddersfield produced one of the opening weekend’s biggest shocks when they won 3-0 at Selhurst Park in August.
Now both teams are fighting for survival with the Terriers four points better off than Palace, who currently sit just below the safety mark.
Since 2018 arrived, Huddersfield have taken just seven points out a possible 15 in games against those around them in bottom half of table.
Roy Hodgson’s Eagles meanwhile have taken just five points when facing relegation rivals.
Palace however has faced just three of those clubs in 2018 compared to Huddersfield’s five, standing them in good stead during the run in.
Form wise, Huddersfield are unbeaten in three of last four league games whilst Palace lost all four.
I therefore see this as a must win for the visitors but the Terriers are solid at home so fancy them to take another home win.
Prediction: Huddersfield 2-0 Crystal Palace
Jake predicts: Huddersfield 1-0 Crystal Palace
Result: Huddersfield 0-2 Crystal Palace
Stoke City vs Everton
This is really a must win match for Stoke if they are to enter the fortnight break above the drop zone.
Everton meanwhile need just one win to all but mathematically clinch safety here.
Since winning a 4-3 thriller at Everton in December 2015, Stoke have lost four of last five meetings but got a 1-1 draw here last season.
Stoke have gained 19 points at home this season whilst Everton have just eight away points and a single victory on the road.
The Toffees are also yet to register an away point in 2018, having lost their four away matches so far this year.
Realistically given that this fixture has seen five draws on Stoke’s ground this decade, I can see another one here.
Prediction: Stoke City 1-1 Everton
Jake predicts: Stoke City 2-1 Everton
Result: Stoke City 1-2 Everton
Liverpool vs Watford (5:30pm)
With their rivals all in cup action, this is a physiological must win for Liverpool in the top four race.
Watford meanwhile haven’t won at Anfield since their first Premier League trip in August 1999.
Liverpool have since won their three recent league meetings here by a 10-1 goal aggregate score.
Home wise, Liverpool have only lost once in past 22 home games across all competitions since a defeat by Crystal Palace here last April.
Watford meanwhile are in shambolic away form with just a meagre one away point from last eight league matches.
If compare Liverpool’s home goal average compared to that of Watford’s away then we see a clear double in average favouring Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.
Given that Liverpool have more to lose here and Watford are in shambolic form on the road, there will be just one clear winner here.
Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Watford
Jake predicts: Liverpool 3-0 Watford
Result: Liverpool 5-0 Watford
