This season’s FA Cup Quarter Finals has arrived with four ties stripped over two days.
Saturday is an all Premier League affair as Swansea host Tottenham Hotspur, before Manchester United host Brighton and Hove Albion in a repeat of 1983 FA Cup Final.
Swansea vs Tottenham Hotspur (12:15pm)
Swansea come into this match as the only team to have needed three replays to get to this stage.
The last club to achieve that feat was Middlesbrough in 2006-07 but they crashed out at this stage after needing a replay.
Fast forward 11 years and Quarter Final replays are no longer around, meaning that the Swans might need to go the distance here if are to reach Wembley and semi finals.
Tottenham meanwhile will come into this as favourites after a 4-1 win over Bournemouth last weekend.
There hasn’t been a single FA Cup meeting between these teams, although the Swans won their last home cup game against Spurs in September 1991 of League Cup before losing second leg 5-1.
Since then, they have drawn just three of last 14 meetings with all coming in league.
Although Swansea will give it everything, I can see Tottenham winning this without the injured Harry Kane.
Prediction: Swansea City 0-2 Tottenham Hotspur
Result: Swansea City 0-3 Tottenham Hotspur
Manchester United vs Brighton & Hove Albion (7:45pm)
Manchester United come into this game knowing that this competition is their only remaining hope of silverware this season, like it was in 2016.
Having suffered a shock midweek European exit to Sevilla, United welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford for a repeat of 1983 final.
There have been three FA Cup meetings between these teams, excluding the 1983 final at Wembley with all coming at Old Trafford.
United won two of those by a single goal whilst the other needed a replay following a 2-2 draw.
Whilst Brighton will probably field a similar teams to recent weeks minus Anthony Knockaert, United will probably make changes with Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba both coming in amongst others.
The Red Devils have exited the competition at this stage in three of last four appearances at this stage whilst the Seagulls have won and lost one of their two Quarter Final appearances.
This increases the chance of a cupset but I can see United just edging it here despite a spirited Brighton effort.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Brighton and Hove Albion
Result: Manchester United 2-0 Brighton and Hove Albion
