This fixture could have major ratifications at both ends of the Premier League table as Stoke City meet Manchester City in Monday Night Football.
Stoke know victory will lift them out of relegation zone for first time since start of February.
Manchester City meanwhile could take a giant step towards the title with a win.
Stoke striker, Mame Diouf could sit this game out after injuring his shoulder against Southampton last weekend.
Kevin Wimmer and Saido Berahino could feature in the squad after undergoing programmes to improve their fitness.
Manchester City are unlikely to feature Sergio Aguero after the Argentinean is understood to have picked up a knee injury in the Citizens’ final training session.
David Silva will be available after skipping midweek loss to Basel for personal reasons.
Raheem Sterling and Fernandinho face fitness tests, having resumed training following hamstring injuries.
Fabian Delph is available for selection after serving a three domestic match suspension. He however is doubtful after suffering a knock in training.
Stoke City are in decent form with four draws from their last five matches, after taking a 2-0 home win against Huddersfield in late January.
Xherdan Shaqiri has scored in three of those games, including the 2-1 away defeat at Bournemouth.
Manchester City has been inconsistent lately with three wins and two defeats in their last five across all competitions.
The Citizens’ top scorers from that period is the Silva pair of Bernardo and David (no relation) with two goals each.
- Stoke have taken just seven points in this fixture from a possible 24 in last eight meetings.
- At home, Stoke have earned 14 points in nine Premier League ties against Man City.
- Man City put four past Stoke in three of last four meetings.
- Stoke haven’t had the double done on them by City since 1998-99 season in third tier.
- No first placed team at start of day has lost to a side in relegation zone since Wigan stunned Manchester United in April 2012.
Where game can be won and lost?
|Per Game Average||Stoke City (home)||Manchester City (away)|
|Shots on Target||3.71||6.07|
|Goals per First Half %||43.8||50|
|Goals per Second Half %||56.2||50|
Manchester City definitely has every area covered and can maintain momentum in both halves.
The only area that I can see Stoke winning is the discipline department, if they can frustrate Man City.
Should they fail to do that then this will be a simple and easy result.
As much as Stoke needs the three points compared to the visitors, I can see just one outcome here.
Prediction: Stoke City 0-3 Manchester City
Jake predicts: Stoke City 0-4 Manchester City
Result: Stoke City 0-2 Manchester City
