Gateshead sub, Wes York earned his side a precious point in another thrilling 2-2 draw against Hartlepool United.
Hartlepool made a lively start, attacking Gateshead from the off.
Their reward for such early pressure came in seventh minute, when a free kick from the Heeds’ left got headed in by the returning Keith Watson.
After that surprise early goal, the visitors grew into the match with their best effort coming just before half time.
Gateshead earned a free kick after Jordan Burrows was brought down.
Scott Barrow’s delivery was poor but they reclaimed ball and broke down left, before firing into box for Peniket to lash home to make it 1-1.

The second half started off with the Pools attacking down their visitors’ left but met tough resistance from Vassell in particular.
With both teams looking to start climbing towards play offs, they needed the three points here.
As fan voices increasingly grew louder, Hartlepool broke the lock in 64th minute when Watson lashed home from a corner with his left foot.
Gateshead however knew that after the 2-2 draw on Boxing Day, this wasn’t over yet.
15 minutes later, the Heeds were level again through sub Wes York, who tapped home from close range into top corner.
After that, it was end to end stuff with Scott Loach and Dan Hanford making exceptional saves at either end.
In end, the match finished 2-2, leaving Hartlepool in 15th on 33 points, whilst Gateshead drop a position to 17th and 32 points.
