This afternoon, Middlesbrough travel to Hillsborough as they take on Sheffield Wednesday in a must win game for both sides.
As we hit the mid way point of the season, both managers will feel they’ve massively underperformed, something which fans from both teams feel to be true.
Two sides who were expected to challenge for promotion this season have instead mopped around in mid-table, with both sides failing to find any sort of consistency and confidence.
After a defeat to Millwall away last week, Garry Monk will be hoping his side can get back to winning ways today against a Sheffield Wednesday side that hasn’t won in six games.
Things won’t be easy though as Boro haven’t won away on the road since they beat Hull on Halloween.
Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Kieran Westwood remains sidelined with a groin injury so will miss out today.
Whereas Middlesbrough have no fresh injury concerns going into today’s game and will most likely stay unchanged to the side that lost last week to Millwall.
With Boro being in poor form and both managers being under pressure I expect this game to end in misery for Garry Monk, ultimately costing him his job.
Lose today and Boro could find themselves eight points outside the play-offs going into Christmas, something not many Boro fans expected at the start of the season.
I think Jordan Rhodes and Adam Reach will both have a point to prove today after being sold to Sheffield Wednesday in the last 18 months and I think Boro will buckle under the pressure today and lose.
Prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Middlesbrough
Result: Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Middlesbrough
