Today’s big match comes at Anfield this evening as Liverpool host Chelsea in their battle for a top four finish.
Reds’ defender, Joel Matip could return here after recovering from a thigh strain.
Adam Lallana is in line for first league start in midfield, having overcome a thigh injury picked up in pre season.
Emre Can however is doubtful with a muscle strain.
Antonio Conte could recall Victor Moses after the Nigerian spent six weeks out with a hamstring injury.
Michy Batshuayi, Charly Musonda and Kenedy will still be missing from Chelsea’s squad from injuries.
Liverpool are in strong form with just one defeat since start of October in all competitions.
Their home record is impressive this season with no defeats from nine home games (W6 D3) and 17 goals scored.
Liverpool have conceded five at home but four of those has come in European competition, so their home defence in league is sublime to say in least with just one conceded home goal coming in September against Burnley.
Chelsea have also been strong but have suffered two away losses in same period (2-1 at Crystal Palace & 3-0 at AS Roma).
In six away Premier League games, the Blues have lost once and ran riot at West Brom last weekend, winning 4-0.
Solid defence required
Liverpool might be unbeaten at home but all of their conceded league goals have come before half time.
That will surely delight Chelsea, who have scored 57.1% of their away goals in the first half.
This will be a tough game but Liverpool are stronger at home and more disciplined, having conceded fewer fouls on average than Chelsea do away.
The Reds’ also dominate the shots and shots on target averages but Chelsea just edge ahead when it comes to the goal average category by 0.33 goals.
|Per home/away game average||Liverpool||Chelsea|
|Shots on Target||8.83||4.83|
The Blues however average more yellow cards than Liverpool making their discipline fairly questionable.
If Jurgen Klopp can get his Reds’ to frustrate Chelsea for most of match, I think they might nick this one.
Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Chelsea
Jake predicts: Liverpool 1-2 Chelsea
Result: Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea
