This weekend’s Premier League action isn’t over as Newcastle travel to surprise package, Burnley in Monday Night Football.
Both teams are currently in the top ten and a 2-0 victory for Burnley will put them above Liverpool.
Newcastle however can put themselves in mix for third with victory putting them within touching distance of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.
Burnley’s record signing, Chris Wood is doubtful after picking up a hamstring injury.
Fellow strikers, Sam Vokes and Nakhi Wells could feature after overcoming an abdominal strain and foot injury respectively.
Jonathan Walters and Dean Marney are however still missing with knee injuries.
Rafa Benitez will be delighted to have Dwight Gayle back from a calf injury, having injured it two weeks ago against Southampton.
Defender, Paul Dummett however is their only absentee.
Burnley have made a surprisingly strong start, having just suffered their first away defeat of this season last time out.
Their home form however have seen them draw their last two games at Turf Moor, after beating Crystal Palace and losing to West Brom in their first two home games.
Away from home, Newcastle have won and drawn one whilst losing twice.
They are however unbeaten this month with two draws and a win last time out.
All four of those away results occurred live on Sky Sports but on a Sunday. Will being live on MNF bring about better fortune?
Dull match in store?
This match could be dull because both teams have struggled to score home/away.
The Clarets have only scored twice at home with one coming in each half.
Newcastle however have three away goals with two coming before half time compared to one afterwards.
What ultimately may decide this is the shot averages because Burnley average 12.25 shots at home, whilst the Toon Army has had 16.25 shots on target away from St James Park.
Both teams however are quite fiery looking at the yellow card averages with 1.75 and 2.5 yellow cards respectively.
This looks like its either going to be a repeat of their 3-3 meeting on New Year Day 2015 on Tyneside or a dull draw.
Ultimately, I am backing Newcastle to get the job done late on.
Prediction: Burnley 0-1 Newcastle
Jake predicts: Burney 2-0 Newcastle
Result: Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
