Sport Grill’s latest guest is one of the North East’s brightest and current Arsenal Women striker, Beth Mead.
Mead; I originally started playing football for my local village team on a Saturday morning, I had a lot of energy as a kid and my mum was actually the one who inspired me to go play with the boys and I instantly had a love for the game.
Mead; Of course that what I want to aim high. I want to be remembered as a player so if I can break any records, that would be a huge achievement. Sometimes you have to aim high.
Mead; Being honest, not at all. Our main aim was to stay in the league and try to establish ourselves as the years went on, so to find ourselves in the position we did was amazing and we over exceeded our targets. It was a dream season for me and the club.
Mead; It was sad what happened to Sunderland but I knew it was time to move on and better myself as a player, its exciting times and I’m happy to be challenging for trophy with Arsenal.
Mead; Jordan is an amazing player, I’ve actually followed her from COE at Middlesbrough to Sunderland and now Arsenal, so hopefully I can follow in her footsteps and show everyone what Beth Mead is about. But Jordan is an amazing player to play alongside, she brings so much to the team and helps with my game massively.
Mead; I mean my main ambitions is to establish myself at Arsenal and become a regular senior Lioness. I haven’t thought about the future, that’s always open but I’m concentrating and enjoying myself at Arsenal.
Mead; Of course, seeing them girls do so well shows me that I can do that too, and that’s what I want to do, develop and better myself as a player and continue to improve to get myself to my best level and competing at club and international level.
Mead; Work Hard, Believe, Enjoy!
Sport Grill will like to thank Beth Mead for taking time out to do this interview. We must also thank Arsenal Women’s media team for their assistance in making this interview happen.
