Today sees Middlesbrough host visitors Norwich at the Riverside Stadium.

The last time these two sides met the stacks were much higher.

Last time out

Norwich 2-0 Middlesbrough

A place in the Premier League was at stake the last time these two sides played and Norwich ran out 2-0 winners at Wembley in the 2014/15 season play-off final.

After previously winning the two games 4-0 and 1-0 against Norwich in the League, Middlesbrough went into this game favourites but unfortunately were out done by a much better Norwich side on the day.

Jonny Howson was in the yellow of Norwich that day but today he will face against his former club as he pulls on the red and white of Boro, so today’s game will have great importance for him.

Return of Traore?

Today Middlesbrough fans may see the possible return of explosive winger Adama Traore.

The Spanish winger will be hoping to return to the match day squad after he served the last of his three match suspension on Saturday after Boro’s 1-1 draw against Fulham.

Manic Yanic

Not only does today’s game hold great significance for Jonny Howson with him returning against his former club but it’s also a big game for Dutch winger Yanic Wildschut, who returns to the Riverside Stadium after leaving Middlesbrough 18 months ago.

The former Boro man was sold to Wigan for £1m before Norwich eventually bought him off Wigan for around £6m in the 2017 January window.

The speedy winger has been reintroduced to the starting line up for Norwich in recent weeks and he will be hoping to cause his former club some problems today.

Prediction

I think today’s game will be an entertaining game.

With Boro going into this game unbeaten in seven and Norwich having a very indifferent start to the season I expect Boro to add to Norwich’s woes and score a few goals today.

Middlesbrough 3-0 Norwich

Result: Middlesbrough 0-1 Norwich
