After Christopher Schindler fired in the play-off final winning penalty back in May, It’s finally sunk in with Huddersfield Town fans, that they’re now a Premier League club.
This week’s Super Sunday, sees Premier League football arrive in the town of Huddersfield, for the first time ever. An expected 24,000 fans will descend onto the John Smiths stadium, to see the Terriers take on Newcastle United.
Last time out
The opening weekend of the Premier League season saw Huddersfield dismantle Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, winning 0-3.
A surprise to many, but not to me.
David Wagner has shown that he will not change the way he likes the game to be played, and he will not be intimidated by any club in the league.
Steve Mounié who arrived from Montpellier in the summer, scored two goals on his debut against Palace, and looks like he could be a star.
Newcastle experienced a different start to the season, suffering a defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur at St James’ Park.
Newcastle looked like they could’ve earned a result, but Jonjo Shelvey’s foolish red card cost them, dearly.
As a result of that red card, he is out of tomorrow’s fixture against the Terriers, and Mo Diame looks set to replace him.
Prediction wise, off the back of the opening weekend’s performances, and each clubs’ additions over the summer, I think Huddersfield will win quite comfortably.
With Shelvey out, that allows Aaron Mooy to have a comfortable game in midfield, the area he will dominate for the duration. Also, Huddersfield’s attacking flair will be too much for the visitors, in my opinion.
Prediction: Huddersfield Town 3-1 Newcastle United
Jake predicts: Huddersfield 2-1 Newcastle United
James predicts: Huddersfield 2-0 Newcastle United
Result: Huddersfield 1-0 Newcastle United
