Tonight sees the fourth round of Championship fixtures commence as Burton Albion host Birmingham City under the Sky cameras.
Nigel Clough’s Burton might be a small club looking for their first win of the season but will fancy their chances against an injury ridden Birmingham side.
Albion are welcoming Jackson Irvine and Stephen Warnock back from suspension and injury respectively. Hope Akpan however serves a ban after picking up a red card against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.
Captain, John Mousinho remains on sidelines with a hamstring injury.
For Birmingham, captain Michael Morrison is expected to feature wearing a protective mask. This comes after he damaged a cheekbone and broke his nose in Tuesday’s draw against Bolton Wanderers.
Cheikh Ndoye (foot) and David Davis (virus) are expected to be fit for the trip to the Pirelli Stadium.
Brewsters’ win in sight
Burton might of lost their first three games of the new season but this fixture might of have come at the right time.
The home team is only one of three clubs who managed the double over Birmingham last season. Clough himself has a strong record against the Brummies with four wins from his last six meetings with them.
Burton might of lost their last four league matches with 11 goals conceded in the process.
The good news is that Birmingham’s away record is shambolic with only five goals scored (just one goal per game in which they scored) since beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 back in February.
With next week seeing both clubs facing promotion contenders, this is a match where a win is crucial heading into the international break.
Burton have been awful with just two shots on target from three league games this month. They however have the confidence of last season’s double and mixed with Birmingham’s away performances, I expect a tight but positive home victory.
Prediction: Burton Albion 1-0 Birmingham City
Result: Burton Albion 2-1 Birmingham City
