This weekend we see the return of Championship football after a long pre season.
Newly relegated Middlesbrough travel away to face a Wolves side which have had a summer of re-building.
Both sides will go into this game with a new manager with Middlesbrough now under the management of Garry Monk, who left Leeds back in May, whereas Wolves are now managed by ex Porto manager Nuno Espírito Santo.
Transfer trend setters
Wolves and Middlesbrough have also set the trend for summer spending in the Championship season as well with both clubs breaking there record transfer fees, with Rueben Neves joining Wolves from Porto for £15.8m and Britt Assombalonga joining Middlesbrough from Nottingham Forest.
Close match in waiting?
This game however will be a close fought affair.
Wolves beat Leicester in their final pre season friendly 1-0 whereas Boro beat German side Augsburg 2-1 thanks to goals from new signing Martin Braithwaite and midfielder Adam Forshaw.
With both teams strengthening well over the summer and with new managers for the teams to impress I expect this game to be a close fought affair.
It’ll be a cagey game with only a few goals as both teams won’t want to risk too much so for that reason I’m going with a 2-1 Middlesbrough win.
Boro will have just too much for Wolves going forward, goals from Braithwaite and a late winner from Ashley Fletcher will hand the first three points of the season Boro’s way.
