Blue hangover?

There are a whole host of rearranged Premier League matches in this midweek but could the leaders have a Blue hangover?

Chelsea kicks things off with a home game against Southampton as they look to stretch their lead over Tottenham Hotspur.

Team News

Chelsea Captain, Gary Cahill is expected to return after overcoming gastroenteritis.

Diego Costa and Eden Hazard could be reinstalled in the starting lineup after being benched for Saturday’s FA Cup victory over Spurs.

Southampton have Oriel Romeu back from a two match suspension to face his former club.

Sam McQueen is out with a minor groin injury.

Matt Targett and Charlie Austin are expected to return to training later this week.

Critical game

For Antonio Conte, this match is must win because if Tottenham beat Crystal Palace on Wednesday, the gap will be down to a single point.

The bad news is that the Saints have the upper hand at Stamford Bridge in avoiding defeat on their last eight visits.

Costa has the opportunity to bag his 50th Premier League goal but could go six fixtures without scoring for the first time since January 2013.

Chelsea will be buzzing after reaching the FA Cup final but must quickly refocus to the job in hand.

Southampton might of not beaten a top six side all season in the league but will be hoping for further success at the Bridge.

The extra rest since last weekend puts them in good stead to go and do some damage with Manolo Gabbiadini.

The game will be tight and competitive but playing at the weekend will catch up in the latter stages with Chelsea and cost them.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-2 Southampton

Result: Chelsea 4-2 Southampton
