Manchester United head to Belgium looking to continue their impressive away form in Europe.
Anderlecht is no easy team after meeting them on six previous occasions. United emerged victorious on four occasions whilst losing the other two clashes.
Jose Mourinho has left Wayne Rooney behind with an ankle issue. Phil Jones, Juan Mata, Chris Smalling and Ashley Young are also ruled out of the first leg.
David De Gea and Antonio Valencia are doubts but have travelled with the squad.
Anderlecht’s Andy Najar is definitely missing for the Belgian side here.
Their top scorer, Lukasz Teodorczyk is a doubt with a shoulder injury.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored five goals against Anderlecht but shares the Europa’s League top scorer stat with Teodorczyk.
If both strikers start for their respective clubs, expect to see a tough challenge as both strikers look to strike out as the solo top scorer come full time.
United’s last trip to the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium saw them lose 2-1. That defeat however came 17 years ago under Sir Alex Ferguson.
Both sides are in similar form coming into this quarter final.
Anderlecht have four wins from their five last matches in all competitions.
This is slightly better than the Red Devils, who have picked up three wins but drawn two as well across the same period.
With five more games to play in April, expect United to play slightly on the cautious side.
Mourinho will be happy with an away goal from this at a minimum given that Chelsea are the visitors to Old Trafford on Sunday, back in the Premier League.
A domestic top four league placing is unlikely means that Mourinho will be taking this competition seriously. With the tournament winners getting entry to the Champions League next season, attention surely has to be on Europa progression.
After thrashing Sunderland at the weekend, expect a closer victory here.
Prediction: Anderlecht 0-1 Manchester United
Result: Anderlecht 1-1 Manchester United
