After a huge weekend of Premier League action, everyone is back in action this midweek. The majority of games are on Wednesday but there are four six pointer matches being played on Tuesday.
Burnley vs Stoke
This is a must win match for both sides, currently stuck in ruts.
Burnley are without a win in their last seven league games and as a result, have slid into relegation contention.
Their home record this season has been strong so expect them to put in a strong performance here. They were outplayed by a strong Tottenham side on Saturday but Stoke are much easier opposition.
The Potters are looking to score their first away goals since the 3-1 win at Sunderland in mid January. A upturn in fortune is needed here with such a tightly packed midfield from 9th to 16th if they want to avoid a late slip into the relegation scrap.
Given Burnley’s strong home form this season, they should nick this one.
Prediction: Burnley 1-0 Stoke
Result: Burnley 1-0 Stoke
Leicester vs Sunderland
Defeat here then Sunderland can start saying their goodbyes to the Premier League.
Leicester are unbeaten since Craig Shakespeare took over with five consecutive wins. Another win here should ensure their safety and given their recent performances, anything less would be a surprise.
Jermain Defoe could be the Black Cats’ saviour with a super record against the Foxes. He is currently a doubt but if selected, he could well prove the difference.
Realistically, Leicester should comfortably have the points sewn up in comfortable style.
Prediction: Leicester 3-0 Sunderland
Result: Leicester 2-0 Sunderland
Manchester United vs Everton
If either are to push for a top four place, a win here is vital for both sides.
Jose Mourinho will be pleased to have Andrea Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic back from suspension. With fresh legs, United will surely have to be favourites here.
The Red Devils hold all the cards against Everton, who have only a solidary win from their last 23 trips to Old Trafford. They have however drawn blanks in eight home games this season.
Everton have only won one away game in April since 2014 so this is a huge ask. The poor performance at Liverpool on Saturday is sure to have dented morale meaning that a win here is hugely important for their European hopes.
With so much at stake, a draw here won’t be a surprise. Man U have to try and avoid injuries early on this month but should have enough in them to get a late victory.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Everton
Result: Manchester United 1-1 Everton
Watford vs West Bromwich Albion
Both sides are at opposite ends of the table and a win will do the world of good for both teams.
Watford know that another win could virtually guarantee survival whereas West Brom could close the gap to those fighting for Europa League spots with three points.
Both sides have been impressive at set pieces this season so expect most chances to come from corners. The Hornets have 13 goals from set pieces to West Brom’s 19 so expect a strong goalfest.
The Baggies were just first class against Arsenal and their defending at Old Trafford on Saturday demonstrates why they could mount a late charge for a 5/6th place finish.
Expect an open game throughout the 90 minutes with goals. The winner should probably come from a late corner in injury time given how evenly matched they’re on paper.
Prediction: Watford 2-3 West Bromwich Albion
Result: Watford 2-0 West Bromwich Albion
