Predictions

Make or Break Monday

After an eventful weekend saw gaps open up at the top and bottom of the Premier League. The final tie sees West Ham host Chelsea in their late bid to claim a top ten finish. The visitors however need to reopen their gap at the top to ten points against Tottenham Hotspur.

Team News

Slaven Bilic could hand Andy Carroll a start, should he pass late checks on his groin injury. Michail Antonio is however out of this game as he serves a one match ban.

Chelsea have an unchanged squad available at the London Stadium despite Eden Hazard picking up an injury.

Form

All of Chelsea’s defeats this season has come in London including a 2-1 loss here in the EFL Cup fourth round.

Andy Carroll has been one of Chelsea’s bogey players in this fixture with two goals in three outings against them. If he’s fit then the visitors will need to be on their guard at set pieces. Another player to watch out for is Manuel Lanzini who loves scoring in London derbies compared to those outside of the UK capital.

Conte needs his side to end a clean sheet rut in which they have conceded in six of their last eight league ties. His away record as Chelsea manager in local derbies read as (W1, L2) in the Premier League so expect him to look to even that record up here.

Prediction

The match should be fiery with both sides scoring. Chelsea’s recent away record in local derbies is worrying and can’t see it halting here, even if the Irons are without two of their most important stars.

Prediction: West Ham 2-1 Chelsea

Result: West Ham 1-2 Chelsea
