Tonight sees another massive Championship clash after Huddersfield saw off Brighton last night.
Wigan are looking for a win that will provide a boost to their survival hopes. They however are facing a strong Sheffield Wednesday team, in the play off hunt.
The Latics are expected to name a unchanged starting eleven from their 4-0 thrashing at Manchester United at the FA Cup. They have however made eight signings this week so expect a few changes on the bench.
Wednesday will be without Steven Fletcher as he starts a suspension whilst Sam Hutchinson returns after missing the draw at Bristol City due to a one match ban. Jordan Rhodes will be expected to feature at some point tonight, after signing from Middlesbrough on deadline day.
Wigan will come into this match with a fitness advantage after skipping the midweek action due to scheduling complications.
They however aren’t strong when it comes to scoring goals with Wednesday have scored 33 goals to Wigan’s 24 in the Championship this season. The visitors however have two players (Fernando Forestieri and Sam Winnall) who have scored more goals than Will Grigg all season.
This match should be tight especially given, that Wigan have lost to the Owls in their last three meetings. Each defeat was by a 1-0 score line but Wigan will be confident of an upset after seeing off Brentford in their last home game. A draw here wouldn’t come as a surprise because picking up points at home is key to staying up.
Prediction: Wigan Athletic 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday
Result: Wigan Athletic 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday
