After yesterday’s drama saw Liverpool and Southampton crash out of the FA Cup, Sunday sees three Premier League sides to avoid the same fate and book their place in the fifth round.
Millwall vs Watford
With the Den’s future still unknown, Millwall will want to claim another top flight scalp in the form of Watford.
The Lions will field a strong team and Lee Gregory will be a danger man given his goal scoring form. They also have Steve Morison and Fred Onyedinma in midfield, who can cause problems for the Hornets.
Watford can’t afford a defeat here as pressure mounts on Walter Mazzarri following a troubling run of form. With Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo’s partnership inconsistent compared to last year, they will look to use this match against League One opposition as an opportunity to rediscover their magic.
Prediction: Millwall 2-2 Watford
Result: Millwall 1-0 Watford
Fulham vs Hull City
This match looks difficult to call because Fulham are in strong form unlike Hull. Against Manchester United on Thursday night, the Tigers showed potential up front with Oumar Niasse so will be looking to push on and embark on a cup run.
The home side will be tough to beat but have crashed out at this stage for four consecutive seasons. With the Championship play off spots up for grabs, don’t be surprised to see them settle for another early exit.
Hull are yet to lose to a team below them since Crawley Town, five seasons ago so will be confident of marching on into the fifth round draw. Niasse will look to start and prove that he can cut it in English football.
Prediction: Fulham 1-2 Hull City
Result: Fulham 4-1 Hull City
Sutton United vs Leeds
Leeds will be confident of easing through to the next round against Sutton but the home side are no pushovers. The Us rested their key players in the past week so expect them to give it their everything against a weakened Leeds team.
Garry Monk is set to rest Chris Wood and several other first team stars ahead of a midweek league trip to relegation threatened Blackburn. Even without those players, defeat would be embarrassing but a replay at Elland Road would be a great credit to Sutton, if they can pull it out of the bag.
Both sides have met in the FA Cup once before at this stage, 47 years ago. Sutton will need to play like they did against AFC Wimbledon if they want to join Lincoln City in the fifth round, at the expense of Championship sides.
Prediction: Sutton: 1-3 Leeds
Result: Sutton 1-0 Leeds
Manchester United vs Wigan
Manchester United will be confident of continuing their title defence with a full squad available. They have however stuttered against lower league opposition in recent years, apart from Reading in the last round.
Wigan have several players out injured so will be the underdogs at Old Trafford. Will Grigg will be hoping to reignite his goal scoring prowess after a below par season so far. Manager Warren Joyce used to coach United’s kids so will be aware of how several Red Devils play. Could his knowledge help the Latics cause a cupset?
Prediction: Manchester United 3-0 Wigan
Result: Manchester United 4-0 Wigan
