Wednesday’s CL Predictions

Wednesday’s group fixtures of the Champions League are completed tonight. Arsenal are targeting top spot in Group A whilst Manchester City seek a win that will see them join Leicester and Arsenal in the last 16.

Arsenal vs Paris Saint Germain

Arsenal come into this game in a confident mood having gone unbeaten at home since the opening day defeat. Their morale and belief in topping the group will be boosted by PSG defender, Serge Aurier being refused entry to the UK.

The French side will be looking to secure a easier round of 16 draw with top spot in the group. Their away record in England is awful, having only mustered one win in their last eight trips across the English Channel meaning that they will be looking to change that stat this evening.

The Gunners have scored at the Emirates in all competitions this season except against Middlesbrough. Their defence is however quite disappointing in Europe with all of their conceded goals coming in the opening quarter, this campaign.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 PSG

Result: Arsenal 2-2 PSG

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Manchester City

Pep Guardiola and his citizens can go to Germany knowing that a win will see them through regardless of if Celtic see off Barcelona.

They will however be without their captain, Vincent Kompany which gives Pep a problem given how poor City’s record without Kompany is. The Sky Blues haven’t kept a clean sheet in any European away game since the final group game of the 2-14-15 season in Roma.

The effect could be eroded by an in form Aguero, who currently has form against the German club. The 4-0 win at the Etihad in September will also spur them on against a struggling side who languishes 13th in the Bundesliga league.

Monchengladbach will be looking to make home advantage count as they seek to steal the last knockout stages spot in Group C. Their record against the Etihad based club is poor, so will be looking to get a much needed win over their English rivals ahead of a trip to the Nou Camp in a fortnight’s time.

Thorgan Hazard, Raffael and Lars Stindl are Monchengladbach’s danger men having score 19 goals between them so far this season. Monchengladbach’s ground saw both teams score last season at the same stage so expect at least two goals tonight.

Prediction: Borussia Monchengladbach 1-2 Manchester City

Result: Borussia Monchengladbach 1-1 Manchester City
