Live weekend TV fixtures predictions 18-20th November

The domestic leagues are back after the international break. Let take a look at the English matches that have been picked for live TV coverage and try to predict the scores. This time, I will be only predicting the live TV matches from Premier League and Football League.

Brighton and Hove Albion vs Aston Villa (Sky Sports 1, Friday 18th November, 7:45pm KO)

Both teams come into this clash on a high after recording wins in their last outings. The Seagulls are unbeaten in ten championship games, making them favourites to win this fixture and will have Anthony Knockaert back in the fold.

The Villans are however unbeaten since the arrival of Steve Bruce and will be looking to force their way into the play off reckoning. They are however without Ross McCormack, making them a little vulnerable going forward but will benefit from Jordan Agnew’s return.

I fancy Brighton to edge this over Villa due to the morale boost that Knockaert’s return will bring to the side.

Prediction: Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 Aston Villa

Result: Brighton and Hove Albion 1-1 Aston Villa

Manchester United vs Arsenal (SS1, Saturday 19th November, 12:30 KO)

This is a must win match for Arsene Wenger, if Arsenal are to challenge for the Premier League title.

Jose Mourinho’s men come into this match having finally produced an excellent performance away at Swansea and will want to pick up where they left off. Unfortunately, they will be missing Zlatan Ibrahimović and potentially Wayne Rooney who were key players at Swansea a fortnight ago.

Arsenal won’t be risking any players ahead of a crucial Champions League showdown in midweek against Paris Saint Germain.  Expect to see a slightly youthful side with Lucas Perez up front and Walcott, Ozil,  and Iwobi sat in attacking midfield.

This is a match that neither manager will want to lose heading into critical midweek fixtures, so expect fireworks from those wanting a place in the midweek squad. Add in Mourinho vs Wenger with Jose having a 15-1 head to head record over the Frenchman, we have a tasty battle that may disappoint due to the way this fixture has fallen.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal

Result: Manchester United 1-1 Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United (BT Sports 1, Saturday, 5:30pm KO)

Tottenham head into this fixture still unbeaten in the league and will be a hard nut to crack. West Ham however have an awful away record this season, with just one win in five away games so far this season.

Spurs will be glad to have Harry Kane back so a strong side will certainly be put out by Mauricio Pochettino. Expect to see the Lilywhites of last season back on form and the Hammers will struggle to break them down.

West Ham surely have to go for a solid defensive set up that can counter attack at set pieces, if want to leave with a point or three. Winston Reid’s return will help boost the team despite losing captain, Mark Noble to suspension.

The match is set to be tight with the Hammers having won the last meeting in March between these sides. Looking at the squad available, this match is the North Londoners to lose.

Prediction: Spurs 2-1 West Ham

Result: Spurs 3-2 West Ham

Ipswich Town vs Nottingham Forest (SS1, Saturday, 5:30 KO)

Ipswich have had a disappointing start in a season where they should be right in the promotion mix. Losing Daryl Murphy to Newcastle won’t have helped them but is no excuse for their 15th position in the Championship.

At least, they haven’t had a bad a start as Nottingham Forest, who languishes just two points above the drop zone in 20th.

This match doesn’t look the most exciting on paper and both clubs will be wanting to avoid defeat as they try to stay clear of the bottom three. Forest are missing key players which will hurt them against a strong Ipswich squad.

Prediction: Ipswich Town 1-0 Nottingham Forest

Result: Ipswich Town 0-2 Nottingham Forest

Leeds United vs Newcastle United (SS1, Sunday 20th November, 1:15 KO)

This top of table clash pitches two teams targeting promotion against each other. Leeds are currently in fine form having discovered their mojo after a sloppy start to the season.

Garry Monk will be reunited with former charge, Jonjo Shelvey who will be looking to help keep the Toon Army on course for automatic promotion.

The Lilywhites currently have the momentum having beaten fellow promotion challengers, Norwich City two weeks ago. Monk will be looking to make that two consecutive wins over sides around them.

Newcastle are without Roland Aarons for the rest of this season but are surely looking to pick up where they left off. Having not lost since mid September, Rafa Benitez will be eying up a continuation of their winning run with a squad that contains Dwight Gayle, Matt Ritchie and Ayoze Perez.

The match should be competitive and the home side will fancy their chances, if don’t give up and keep fighting like they did at Carrow Road before the international break. The Magpies have that bit extra which will be enough to cause problems in the latter stages.

Prediction: Leeds United 1-2 Newcastle United

Result: Leeds United 0-2 Newcastle United

Middlesbrough vs Chelsea (SS1, Sunday, 4:00pm KO)

This tie on paper is a Chelsea walk over having beaten Middlesbrough in their six meetings in all competition. Boro however are able to take it to the big guns, having already drawn 1-1 with Arsenal and Manchester City albeit at their grounds.

The Blues come to the Riverside Stadium unbeaten in the league since September so will be a serious threat. With Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas back fit, Antonio Conte has a full squad at his disposal so will be looking to keep that winning run rolling.

The good news for Middlesbrough fans is that we have the joint fifth best league defence having let in just 12 goals this season so far, making it a tough ask for Costa and Hazard to breach.

With such a solid defence against one of the league’s most dangerous teams on the attack, it should be energetic and tight. The Teesside club need to get the first goal, if to have any chance of winning after not scoring against the Londoners in a decade.

I think that Chelsea are going to pay for not clubbing together money to fly their Brazilian players home with PSG, Liverpool and Man City and can see those players being sloppy due to jet lag, allowing Boro to get something.

Prediction: Middlesbrough 1-1 Chelsea

Result: Middlesbrough 0-1 Chelsea

West Bromwich Albion vs Burnley (SS1, Monday 21st November, 8:00pm KO)

Both teams are doing fantastically well on their budgets and can see a tight game. WBA will be looking to build on their win over champions, Leicester City.

Burnley will be looking to win this game because they will need to beat teams around them given their budget, if want to stay up and a few shock results against the big sides at home will also help.

Both teams are capable of getting at least one goal so expect either a tight cagey draw  with a point each to boost their survival hopes or a goal fest in an attempt to get the full three points.

Prediction: WBA 2-2 Burnley

Result: WBA 4-0 Burnley
